This competition was organized by the HMP Biology Education BIOSFER FKIP Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) on April 25–May 31, 2026, with the theme “Revive the Future: Empowering Ideas, Inspiring Action”.

The BIOLEAF competition is an annual scientific event for active students from various universities in Indonesia. This year, 12 teams participated, presenting innovative ideas related to the environment, education, ecosystems, SDGs, and biotechnology. The UGM Faculty of Agriculture team advanced to the grand finals and placed third after a rigorous selection process based on the novelty of their ideas, the quality of their arguments, and their presentation.
This achievement demonstrates the Faculty of Agriculture students’ commitment to developing creative ideas relevant to sustainability issues. Through their essay, the team emphasized the importance of research-based innovation in addressing environmental challenges and sustainable development.
The achievement also supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by encouraging academic excellence and student participation in scientific competitions; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through the development of innovative research-based ideas; SDG 13: Climate Action, by proposing solutions to climate-related challenges; SDG 15: Life on Land, through ideas that promote sustainable ecosystem management and environmental conservation; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as demonstrated by the interdisciplinary collaboration among students from different study programs within the Faculty of Agriculture.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), expressed its appreciation for this achievement by distributing student achievement incentives to support the development of academic potential and motivate students to compete at the national level. With this achievement, UGM Faculty of Agriculture students have once again demonstrated their active role in supporting the university’s reputation while strengthening their contribution to achieving the SDGs at the national and global levels.
