The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, Served as a Resource Person for the Agricultural Science Doctoral Curriculum Workshop at Padjadjaran University.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, held a Curriculum Workshop for the Doctoral Program (S3) in Agricultural Sciences with the theme “A Globally Connected, Research-driven Doctoral Program” on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. This activity presented Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (Faperta UGM), as the main speaker.

In her presentation, Dr. Dyah Weny emphasized the importance of developing a doctoral curriculum that is adaptive to global dynamics, research-based, and oriented toward Outcome-Based Education (OBE). She emphasized that doctoral graduates must possess superior research capacity, be able to produce reputable scientific publications, and make a significant contribution to addressing global challenges such as food security and climate change. read more

UGM’s Faculty of Agriculture Establishes Strategic Partnership with Xiamen University to Strengthen Agricultural Research

The Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (Faperta UGM) officially expanded its international network by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the School of International Relations/Research School for Southeast Asian Studies (RSEAS), Xiamen University, China. The signing took place on June 12, 2026, at Xiamen University by Prof. Jaka Widada, Ph.D., Dean of Faperta UGM, and Prof. GAO Yanjie, Dean of RSEAS Xiamen University.

This agreement marks an important milestone after the foundation of the partnership between the two universities was built through an MOU since 2019 and renewed in 2025. Through the five-year MOA, both institutions are committed to strengthening research in the fields of Indonesia-China relations, sustainable agriculture, and rural socio-economic development. read more

Inauguration of Professor of Fisheries and Marine Biology: Prof. Dr. Eko Setyobudi Highlights the Importance of Data for Sustainable Fisheries Resource Management

The Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University, inaugurated Prof. Dr. Eko Setyobudi, S.Pi., M.Si. as Professor in the Field of Fisheries and Marine Biology on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Balai Senat UGM with a speech entitled “Fisheries Biology: Concepts and Applications in Fisheries Resource Management for Sustainable Development”

In his speech, Prof. Eko emphasized that sustainable fisheries resource management must be based on accurate, detailed, and continuous biological data. He highlighted the need for a robust national fisheries data management system, supported by adaptive and representative sampling methods tailored to the characteristics of each water area. He argued that universities must play a strategic role as a key player in providing national fisheries biological data, so that academic contributions can directly support public policy. read more
