Sharpening Molecular Skills: Hands-on qPCR in Gene Expression Workshop

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) organized the Gene Expression Workshop, with the first session focusing on hands-on qPCR (Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction) analysis. The event took place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Venture Room, AGLC Building, 6th Floor, and was attended by students and researchers interested in exploring molecular techniques to understand gene expression.

The workshop was designed to provide practical experience in operating the qPCR method, an essential technology in molecular biology research used to accurately measure gene expression levels. Participants not only gained theoretical knowledge but also had the opportunity to conduct direct laboratory experiments, thereby enhancing technical skills while strengthening their understanding of fundamental concepts. read more

MEP UGM Student Undertakes Joint Thesis Supervision in Denmark, Realizing Education Internationalization

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to the internationalization of education through the achievement of Panca Rahadi Mulyo, S.P., a student of the Master of Agricultural Economics (MEP) program, 2024 intake. Panca had the opportunity to join the Erasmus+ Student Mobility Programme and undertake joint thesis supervision at Aarhus University, Denmark, for three months from October 2025 to January 2026.

For three months, Panca was placed at the Department of Environmental Science, Aarhus University, under cross-country and interdisciplinary supervision. He was guided by Dr. Doan Nainggolan (Environmental Economics) and Prof. Peter L. Langen (Climate Modeling), while maintaining intensive coordination with his main supervisor at MEP UGM, Arini Wahyu Utami, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. This collaboration enriched Panca’s thesis research, which examines the relationship between the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and natural disasters with macroeconomic conditions. read more

Onboarding Volunteer Media Faperta 2026: Emphasizing the Importance of Journalism and Media in Faculty Branding

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), held the Onboarding Volunteer Media Faperta UGM program on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Agrohydro Laboratory, A2B Building. The event was attended by faculty leaders as well as students selected as media volunteers.

In his remarks, Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, emphasized that the presence of media and journalistic activities plays a strategic role in building the faculty’s image and branding in the eyes of the public. He reminded the audience that publication is not merely documentation but also a communication tool that strengthens academic and social reputation. “In the 1990s, faculty publications started from wall magazines and typewriters. Today, with digital technology, we have greater opportunities to introduce the Faculty of Agriculture UGM to the world,” he said. read more
