Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) held a socialization of Fast Track Program for the Odd Semester of the 2015/206 Academic Year. This event was held on Friday, 28 February 2025 online through the Zoom Meeting and live streaming on the Media Faperta UGM Youtube Channel.
The socialization was opened by Ir. Jaka Widada, M. P., Ph.D. as Dean of Faperta UGM, and attended by Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S. P., M. Si. as Vice Dean for Student Affairs of Faperta UGM, Head and Secretary of Department of Faperta UGM, Head of Study Program of Faperta UGM, parents and guardians of students, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students of Faperta UGM.
Fast Track Program is an opportunity for students to be able to hold two degrees at once within 5 years or less than 5 years. There are two types of this program, namely fast track from Bachelor`s Program to Master`s Program and fast track from Master`s Program to Doctoral Program.
“This is a good opportunity for students, especially to improve their intelligence, perseverance, and high discipline. We hope they can take advantage of the program because we provide scholarships to all participants by waiving the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for 2 semesters for the master program that is directly related to the undergraduate program,” said Ir. Jaka Widada, M. P., Ph.D. as Dean of the Faperta UGM.
Faperta UGM has collaborated with graduate schools for three Graduate School Master`s programs namely Extension and Development Study Program, Environmental Study Program, and Biotechnology Study Program. Another interest thing is that since 2024, fast track between study programs at the Faperta UGM has been opened, allowing students of Faperta UGM to take cross study programs from the previous one. Students who want to cross study programs are not required elective courses first in semester 7.
One of the advantages of the fast track program is students do not need to pay UKT for semesters 1 and 2 for master`s and doctoral programs, but only pay UKT in semesters that directly intersect with semester 1 and 2, namely semesters 7 and 8 for master`s programs, and semesters 3 and 4 for doctoral programs.
Vice Dean for Student Affairs of Faperta UGM, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S. P, M. Si. said, “If fast track students can graduate in the 3rd semester before November, then they only need to pay 50% of the UKT Master`s program, so you can imagine for 4,5 years getting two degrees only paying 5,5 million”. This program also applies to students who receive KIP-K. If you follow the fat track, S1-S2 education is free of charge.
Students from undergraduate programs who are interested in joining this program must meet several conditions, including having taken >120 credits with IPK ≥ 3,5, having a TOEFL score ≥ 400 or AcEPT ≥ 149, and having a TPA/PAP ≥ 450. Then the fast track provions from the master`s program to the doctoral program have a slight difference, including students must have taken at least two semesters with a minimum IPK 3,5, have a TOEFL score at least 400, and a TPA score held by Bappenas/Puspendik Litbang-DIKNA/TPA UGM at least 500.
This fast track socialization is also an effort and commitment of the Faculty to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals.
