The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), held a guest lecture titled “Information Management in the AI Era” on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Venture Lab, AGLC Building, 6th floor. The event featured Nezar Patria, S.Fil., M.Sc., M.B.A., Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) of the Republic of Indonesia, as the keynote speaker.

In his presentation, Nezar Patria stressed that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) must go hand in hand with strong ethical implementation. According to him, AI is not only about innovation and efficiency but also about moral responsibility in its use. “The advancement of AI must always be balanced with ethical awareness to prevent negative impacts on society,” he stated.

Nezar also highlighted the significant potential of AI in supporting the agricultural sector. This technology is beginning to develop in various aspects, such as climate data analysis, land monitoring, yield prediction, and supply chain management. With proper utilization, AI can help increase productivity while supporting sustainable agriculture.

This guest lecture served as an important forum for students, particularly doctoral candidates, to understand the dynamics of information management in the digital era. In addition to discussing the vast opportunities offered by AI in supporting digital transformation, Nezar reminded the audience of the need for regulations and governance that prioritize public interest.

This activity aligns with the commitment of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
