On Friday, 23 August 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) held a Career Seminar as part of the Fisheries and Agriculture Career Expo (FACE). The event took place in the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM and successfully attracted students eager to learn more about career opportunities in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
The seminar opened with a welcoming speech from the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. During his remarks, he highlighted the significance of this event in preparing students for their future careers.
“Today, we have the opportunity to share information and stories about the professional world, so you will be better prepared to enter the workforce, especially in the agriculture and fisheries industries”, said Prof. Subejo.
The seminar featured two inspiring speakers who are experts in their respective fields. Representing the agriculture sector was Mr. Eldi Nuzan, General Manager of PT Sampoerna Agro, who shared his experiences working in one of the largest agribusiness companies in Indonesia. From the fisheries sector, Ms. Paulina Dessy Wulandari, Recruitment & Talent Manager at PT Suri Tani Pemuka, provided insights into career opportunities and the dynamics of the fisheries industry in Indonesia.
The seminar not only offered new perspectives but also inspired students from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM to prepare themselves thoroughly for the job market. Both speakers emphasized the importance of adaptive skills, technological proficiency, and critical thinking as key assets for career success.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM demonstrated its commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
