The Faculty of Agriculture UGM exhibited various agricultural innovations at the Agrifest 2024 event which took place at the Agrotechnology Innovation Center (PIAT) UGM in Brebah, Sleman. This event was attended by various groups such as students, farmers, researchers, and the general public who are interested in the development of agricultural technology.
Among the innovations displayed was Malika Soybean which is a black soybean that has a high content of antioxidants, protein, and other contents. In addition, there was also an innovation in stacking buckets (ember tumpuk) that are able to process organic waste into compost and Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC). The other innovations displayed were the ViVac+ vaccine, NitriQua probiotics, IWAQ probiotics, the Apps Village extension application, insect dome decoration, and the E-Nose innovation.
This activity not only displayed innovative products, but also introduced directly to visitors related to the innovations displayed. The enthusiasm and appreciation can be seen from the many visitors who asked more questions about these innovations.
The Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., gave a positive response to this activity.
“I think the Agrifest program from PIAT UGM is very interesting and important because it can accommodate innovations by researchers and lecturers at the Faculty of Agriculture. So that this innovation can be seen directly by the community. It is hoped that if the public is interested, this innovation can be rolled out to them so that it can connect innovation producers with innovation recipients. The Faculty of Agriculture is very supportive of this activity,” said Prof. Subejo
The participation of the Faculty of Agriculture in Agrifest 2024 is expected to be a forum for collaboration between academics, practitioners, and the community in advancing Indonesia’s agricultural sector. In addition, this activity is also tangible evidence of the Faculty of Agriculture in supporting the SDGs, including, SDG 2: Zero hunger, SDG 3: Good health and well-being, SDG 9: Industry innovation and infrastructure, SDG 15: Life on land, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals.
