During the Faculty Work Meeting (Rapat Kerja Fakultas – RKF) held on Friday, 9 August 2024, Leaders of the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) highlighted the importance of involving junior faculty members in various forms of research. Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, emphasized that young faculty are encouraged to engage in research through research grants.
“The junior faculty research grant program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at ensuring young lecturers can carry out research, even if they have limited access to funding from the university or from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education,” explained Prof. Subejo.
According to Prof. Subejo, these research grants also serve as support for young faculty members to actively participate in scientific forums and academic publications. During his presentation at the expanded RKF meeting, he shared that nine research proposals from young faculty members have already been approved.
In addition to the junior faculty research grants, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM is also committed to enhancing scientific knowledge through various other grant programs, such as collaborative research between faculty and students, flagship research based on the Agrotropical Learning Centre (AGLC) working group, department-based flagship research, and community service initiatives. Prof. Subejo added that throughout 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture has established partnerships with various strategic collaborators to develop several learning centers.
The provision of research funding through these various grants demonstrates the Faculty’s efforts to contribute to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequality, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
