Entering the second day of the series for the Determination of Candidates for Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM 2026 on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the agenda was focused on the assessment and designation stage of the dean candidates. The activity, held in a hybrid format at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium and via Zoom Meeting, was attended by all active lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM with high enthusiasm and integrity.

The evaluation process of the dean candidates was carried out carefully and objectively, referring to the provisions of Article 16 of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Rector Regulation Number 12 of 2016. The assessment was based on five main aspects, namely: (1) leadership spirit, (2) managerial ability, (3) target achievement strategies based on UGM’s vision and mission, (4) an excellent track record, and (5) strong communication skills.

Through the evaluation weighting across these five strategic aspects, all forum participants engaged in discussion until successfully designating the candidates for dean by consensus. This designation is expected to produce faculty leadership that not only possesses superior academic capabilities but also managerial sensitivity in guiding Faperta UGM to address national and global agribusiness and food security challenges.

This merit-based and regulation-driven selection process supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening institutional governance to enhance the quality of higher education at Faperta UGM. It also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the selection of effective and professional leadership capable of managing human resources and fostering a productive academic work environment. Furthermore, the transparent, accountable, and regulation-based selection process reflects the principles of SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting good governance and integrity in strategic decision-making. The active participation of academic staff throughout the selection process also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by encouraging collaboration and shared responsibility in shaping the future leadership of the faculty. In addition, the designated leadership is expected to advance innovation in education, research, community engagement, and institutional development, thereby contributing to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
