Keluarga Agromina Bahari (KAB) Team of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), successfully secured funding under the 2026 PPK Ormawa (Community Service Program for Student Organizations) through the subproposal titled “ASAGRI (Agents for Sustainable Agricultural‑Practice): Strengthening Food Security in Kalurahan Timbulharjo, Bantul through a Biological Control Agent Cultivation System.” The official announcement was released by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, on May 21, 2026.

This achievement is a particular source of pride for Faperta UGM and reinforces the active role of students in delivering real solutions for society. Through this program, KAB proposed Kalurahan Timbulharjo, Bantul, as the empowerment location to promote the implementation of a biological control agent cultivation system as part of strengthening food security.

KAB’s success in obtaining PPK Ormawa 2026 funding reflects the spirit of Faperta UGM student organizations to continue developing—not only as platforms for student activities, but also as engines for community service. The ASAGRI program is designed to strengthen organizational capacity through implementing activities oriented toward the real needs of the community in the field. Through this approach, students not only learn to design programs conceptually but are also trained to understand community dynamics, build collaboration, and apply agricultural innovations that provide direct benefits. The focus on biological control agents demonstrates KAB’s concern for more sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation systems.
For Faperta UGM, the involvement of student organizations in programs such as PPK Ormawa is an important part of the academic ecosystem that supports practice‑based learning. Students are encouraged to become change agents who can bring knowledge from campus into the community while testing the relevance of agricultural innovations in the context of village empowerment.
KAB Faperta UGM’s achievement in securing the 2026 PPK Ormawa funding aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger through strengthening community food security, SDG 4: Quality Education through service-based learning, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through community capacity development and sustainable agricultural innovation, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through the implementation of environmentally friendly cultivation systems, SDG 15: Life on Land through the utilization of biological control agents that support agricultural ecosystem balance, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between universities and local communities.
