The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), continued hosting the WorldVeg: Advanced Training in Plant Health on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Held at the Venture Room, AGLC Building (6th Floor) and the Plant Clinic Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection (HPT), the second day featured intensive sessions on Insect Pest Diagnostics & Resistance Screening led by international experts.

The program began with presentations by Dr. Stephen Othim and Dr. Sopana Yule, who discussed the identification of major insect pests affecting vegetable crops such as tomato, chili, cabbage, and spring onion. Their lectures highlighted the role of insect vectors in disease transmission and strategies for monitoring field symptoms. Participants then engaged in practical sessions on insect identification using microscopes and magnifiers to examine specimens and damage symptoms, while learning sampling techniques and monitoring tools. From UGM, Dr. Prayogo Probo Asmoro also guided the practical activities.
