Day 2: WorldVeg Advanced Training in Plant Health – Insect Pest Diagnosis & Resistance Screening

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), continued hosting the WorldVeg: Advanced Training in Plant Health on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Held at the Venture Room, AGLC Building (6th Floor) and the Plant Clinic Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection (HPT), the second day featured intensive sessions on Insect Pest Diagnostics & Resistance Screening led by international experts.

The program began with presentations by Dr. Stephen Othim and Dr. Sopana Yule, who discussed the identification of major insect pests affecting vegetable crops such as tomato, chili, cabbage, and spring onion. Their lectures highlighted the role of insect vectors in disease transmission and strategies for monitoring field symptoms. Participants then engaged in practical sessions on insect identification using microscopes and magnifiers to examine specimens and damage symptoms, while learning sampling techniques and monitoring tools. From UGM, Dr. Prayogo Probo Asmoro also guided the practical activities. read more

Day 1: World Vegetable Center and UGM Faculty of Agriculture Focus on Plant Health Diagnosis and Resilient Crops

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), together with the World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg), officially launched the Advanced Training in Plant Health: From Field Surveillance to Molecular Technologies on Monday, June 22, 2026. Held at the Venture Room, AGLC Building (6th Floor) and PIAT UGM, the program underscores UGM’s strong commitment to strengthening academic and research capacity in plant health.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Faculty’s leadership: Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si. (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs), Dr. R.A. Siti Ari Budhiyanti, S.T.P., M.P. (Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources), and Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration), who officially inaugurated the training. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Dr. Lourena Maxwell (WorldVeg) and Prof. Ani Widiastuti, S.P., M.P., Ph.D. (Department of Plant Protection, UGM), emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in addressing plant disease challenges. read more

The Fighting Spirit of UGM MSA Students at the International Taekwondo Championship

Gadjah Mada University once again achieved a proud achievement by participating in the 2nd International Gelora Taekwondo Indonesia Championship, held from June 19–21, 2026, at the Yogyakarta State University Sports Hall. This prestigious competition attracted over 3,000 athletes from 21 Indonesian provinces and four countries, making it one of the largest international tournaments.

One of the proud achievements came from Isa Rahmat Aulia, a student in the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), who won third place in the Poomsae Senior Green Taegeuk 2: Male category. Isa also won a silver medal in the Kyorugi Senior U-58 Male category, further strengthening the UGM Taekwondo team’s position in this international event. read more
