Dean of Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D. and Founder & CEO of PT Inamas Synthesis Technology (INASTEK), Yosef Adhitya Duta Dewangga, S.T., M.Eng,  had inaugurated a new innovation in the agricultural sector called Intelligent Contained Climate Controlled Farming (I-C3F) on 31 July 2024.

This inauguration was also attended by Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., as Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. R.A. Siti Ari Budhiyanti, S.T.P., M.P., as Deputy Dean for Finance, Assets and Human Resources. Also present were Rahmat Shah, sponsor of Faculty of Agriculture UGM, and Raline Shah, Save Soil Ambassador, who witnessed this important moment firsthand.

This activity is a follow-up to the collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture UGM and PT INASTEK which has been established since 2021. The aim of this collaboration is to develop smart eco-bioproduction innovation through developing strawberry cultivation in an internet of things (IoT) based plant factory.

The I-C3F system is also equipped with automatic monitoring technology which is able to regulate nutritional schedules and microclimate via MyLestari platform. This aims to control the conditions needed by plants, especially in the cultivation process, standardization and traceability. So, it can produce optimal fruit with a distinctive sweet taste.

I-C3F technology is expected to be a solution to various agricultural challenges, such as extreme climate change, water availability problems, limited land due to conversion, and the human resource crisis in the agricultural sector due to declining interest from the younger generation. By creating a smart agricultural system capable of climate engineering, I-C3F has the potential to change the way young people think about agriculture.

This can certainly increase the interest of the younger generation to contribute to the sustainable agricultural sector. As well as being a learning tool for students in using IoT in the agricultural sector.

Collaboration between Faculty of Agriculture UGM and PT INASTEK through the inauguration of the Intelligent Contained Climate Controlled Farming (I-C3F) innovation is also a real action to achieve the goals of SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: No Hunger, SDG 3: Healthy and Prosperous Life, SDG 9: Industrial Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goals
