The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), held a retirement ceremony to honor the long-standing dedication of Prof. Dr. Ir. Dwidjono Hadi Darwanto, S.U., an academic who has made outstanding contributions in the field of agricultural socio-economics. The event took place at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, students, and colleagues from various institutions.
The opening session was hosted by Vera Kurniawati and Dani Abyan Adam, student representatives from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, serving as masters of ceremony. It was followed by the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Gadjah Mada Hymn. A prayer led by Mr. Asnawi, an administrative staff member from the same department, marked the beginning of the meaningful program.

The event continued with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Ir. Irham, M.Sc., Head of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, and Prof. Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. Both emphasized that Prof. Dwidjono is an inspiring figure who has instilled values of integrity, hard work, and concern for the advancement of agricultural socio-economic sciences.
A session of reflections and messages from colleagues and students added warmth to the occasion. Ir. Mohammad Ismet, MSc, Ph.D. represented fellow academics, while Muhammad Alfian Nur Fauzy, M.Sc. represented graduate students, expressing appreciation for Prof. Dwidjono’s exemplary guidance and mentorship that has inspired many generations.

As a token of appreciation, the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics and the Study Program of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness presented souvenirs to Prof. Dwidjono. This moment was immortalized through a group photo involving faculty leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and invited guests.
The ceremony concluded with the screening of additional testimonial videos and a friendly gathering accompanied by a shared lunch. The atmosphere of camaraderie provided a beautiful closure to the long journey of an academic who has devoted himself to advancing education and research in agriculture.
The retirement ceremony of Prof. Dwidjono was not merely a farewell, but also a celebration of dedication, exemplary character, and the spirit of service that will continue to inspire the Faculty of Agriculture UGM in nurturing future generations of academics with integrity and contributions to sustainable development.
