To strengthen organizational solidarity and farmers’ readiness in absorbing modern agricultural innovations, Lentera DESA from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM conducted training on group dynamics and institutional capacity for agricultural drivers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This training was enthusiastically attended by members of Women Farmer Groups (KWT), Farmer Groups (Poktan), and Combined Farmer Groups (Gapoktan) from various regencies/cities across DIY.
The learning session was designed to be interactive, participatory, and communicative by combining presentations, focused discussions, and group game simulations. This approach was implemented to build a deep understanding that the successful adoption of technology—such as precision and high-economic-value hydroponic cultivation systems—strongly relies on internal management cohesion, open communication, and equitable role distribution within farmer institutions.
The training atmosphere proceeded dynamically and full of motivation. Participants from KWT and Poktan actively engaged in every group problem-solving simulation. Through this series of dynamic exercises, participants were invited to reflect on the importance of adaptive leadership, solid teamwork, and openness to eco-friendly agricultural technology updates.
The activity also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger through strengthening agricultural capacity and productivity; SDG 4: Quality Education through inclusive non-formal education and participatory training; SDG 5: Gender Equality through the active involvement and empowerment of women in agriculture; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through strengthening farmer organizations and promoting value-added agricultural innovations; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through environmentally friendly and efficient agricultural practices; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between academia and local farmer organizations in DIY.
Through Lentera DESA, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM continues to strengthen agricultural communities and promote innovative, inclusive, and sustainable agricultural development.
