The ‘Hearing Dekanat’ event was once again held by the Student Executive Body of the Student Family of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (BEM KM Faperta UGM) on Tuesday, 12 November 2024, at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM Canteen. This event was attended in person by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, vice deans, head of the administration office, and several relevant educational staff.

The attendance of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., along with the vice deans—Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs; Dr. R.A. Siti Ari Budhiyanti, S.T.P., M.P., Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources; and Prof. Subejo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation—demonstrates the Faculty of Agriculture UGM’s commitment to developing and improving faculty services by accommodating student aspirations.

One of the main points discussed at the Hearing Dekanat 2024 event was healthcare services. Students voiced their need for the availability of medicine in every lecture building. In response, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs stated that the suggestions from the students were very good and would be taken into consideration.

“First aid supplies, such as first aid kits, will be provided in every lecture building. Thank you for your input. We will also coordinate with the heads of departments regarding this matter, especially to facilitate activities in the laboratories,” said Weny.

Additionally, the Dean mentioned that the faculty has provided mental health services. He stated that more than 20 students have already utilized these services. The hope is that these services will continue to be used by students without concerns about confidentiality.

“We have provided mental health services with a psychologist. All students who have utilized this service can be assured that their stories and identities will remain confidential, so other students should not hesitate to use this service. The health service room is located on the 1st floor of the AGLC building and meets the required healthcare service standards,” explained the Dean.

In addition to discussions on healthcare services, other student aspirations gathered by the BEM KM FPN UGM management included issues related to campus facilities, academic services, and faculty security. To address these aspirations, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM has reintroduced a facilities complaint service that can be accessed by all students.

Through this event, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM demonstrates a concrete effort to unite students, educational staff, and the Dean’s Office in improving the Faculty of Agriculture UGM for the future. This also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequality, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
