In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., expressed her appreciation for the efforts and achievements of the prospective graduates.
“First of all, on behalf of the faculty, I extend my congratulations to all prospective graduates who will be attending the university briefing tomorrow. On Wednesday, 26 February 2025, you will officially graduate at Grha Sabha Pramana UGM,” she stated.
Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., known as Weny, explained that this activity serves as a significant moment for the faculty to provide final preparation before students officially graduate. It is designed to help them face the professional world or continue their studies to the next level.
“This is a form of our affection for our students, providing them with guidance and support before they officially become alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM,” added Dr. Weny.
The event was designed to equip graduates with essential knowledge and insights, focusing on critical aspects needed to enter the workforce or pursue further education through scholarships. Two inspirational speakers, recognised for their experience and expertise, were invited to share their insights.
The first speaker, Kurniawan Wibowo, S.P., M.B.A., Head of International Business and Product & Market Development (PMD) Horticulture at PT BISI International Tbk, delivered a talk entitled “Needs in the World of Work”. He shared his experience and offered practical advice on preparing for employment, highlighting the importance of strategic planning and competence development following graduation.
“Start planning your life after graduation. In addition to knowledge and skills, attitude is highly valued in the professional world,” said Kurniawan.
The second speaker, Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., a recipient of eight domestic and international scholarships, gave a presentation on “How to Study Abroad for Free”. The event included an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing the prospective graduates to engage directly with the speakers. This dialogue created an inspiring and motivational atmosphere, encouraging the students to prepare more confidently for life beyond university.
The session concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers, followed by a documentation session.
