The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), continues to strengthen its steps on the international stage. On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Faperta UGM received a strategic visit from Prof. Hasegawa Takeshi from Ibaraki University, Japan. This meeting became an important momentum to strengthen synergy in the fields of research and education between Indonesia and Japan, specifically in the development of sustainable agriculture.

During the discussion held at Faperta UGM, Prof. Hasegawa expressed his enthusiasm for the potential of cross-country research collaboration. The main focus discussed included the development of appropriate agricultural technology and climate change adaptation, which are crucial issues for both countries.
Beyond research, the visit also emphasized the strengthening of student exchange programs. Prof. Hasegawa highlighted that direct interaction among students from different institutions can broaden global perspectives and enhance practical skills in an international context. Such collaboration is expected to foster an exchange of innovation cultures and contribute to the development of graduates who are adaptive to global challenges.
The Dean of Faperta UGM, Prof. Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., welcomed this initiative. He emphasized that expanding international networks is a primary pillar in the faculty’s vision to produce competent graduates in the field of food security.
Through this activity, Faperta UGM also demonstrates its contribution to achieving the global SDGs, primarily SDG 4: Quality education, SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure, SDG 16: Peace, justice, and strong institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals.
