The Student Creativity Program in Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) team from the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, with their project entitled “EcoPrime Feed: Innovative Utilization of Invasive Species as High-Quality, Economical, and Environmentally Friendly Fish Feed,” successfully won two bronze medals at the 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS). The team, led by Gerson Lewis (Aquaculture 2023), earned bronze medals in both the poster and presentation categories.
SDG 14: Life below Water
The Department of Fisheries at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), hosted the “Kenal Perikanan” event to provide students with a deeper understanding of the fisheries sector. The event took place over two days, from 6-7 September 2024, in Cirebon, West Java. This year, 212 students, 30 faculty members, 12 educational staff, and 6 companions from the Aquaculture, Aquatic Resource Management, and Fisheries Product Technology study programs participated in the Kenal Perikanan 2024 event.During the event, students had the opportunity to visit several fisheries-related institutions, including the Tegalsari Fishery Port (PPP) in Tegal, the Kejawanan Cirebon National Fishery Port (PPN), PT Sambu Perkasa Mandiri, PT Pan Putera Samudra, PT Perdana Investama Mina, and the Kersa Mulya Bakti Fishery Group.
One of the keynote speakers at the 14th National Seminar on Agricultural Research (SEMNASHAS Faperta UGM), a research professor from the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Prof. Dr. Edvin Aldrian, B.Eng., M.Sc., proposed optimizing an accurate seasonal prediction system. According to him, this system would aid in the strategic planning of food exports and imports, making them more measurable and offering a viable solution for achieving food sovereignty in Indonesia.
