
The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), recently welcomed a visit from SMAN 1 Kandanghaur, Indramayu, on Thursday, 16 January 2025. The event took place at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium and aimed to introduce the world of agriculture and academia to high school students, while also providing valuable information about pathways to higher education.
Latief, M.A., representing SMAN 1 Kandanghaur, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from Faperta UGM. “We sincerely thank you for receiving us at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. We hope that some of our students will be able to continue their studies at Universitas Gadjah Mada,” he said.

During the visit, 11th-grade students were given an overview of the academic clusters and undergraduate programs offered at UGM. Dr. Mukti Aprian, S. Kel., M.Si. (Han), a lecturer from the Department of Fisheries at Faperta UGM, delivered a presentation explaining the various student admission pathways at UGM. This was followed by a session led by Tantriani, S.P., M.Agr., Ph.D., a lecturer from the Department of Soil Science, who introduced the Faculty of Agriculture in greater detail. She covered the departments and study programs available, scholarship opportunities, educational facilities, flagship programs, and career prospects for graduates.

The visit concluded with a lively Q&A session where students enthusiastically asked questions about study programs at Faperta, career opportunities, scholarships, and tips for succeeding in higher education. The event was wrapped up with a prize game and the exchange of souvenirs.
This visit was intended to broaden students’ understanding of higher education opportunities and to inspire them to pursue their dreams. It also reflected Faperta UGM’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
