After successfully initiating the International Undergraduate Class (IUC) in 2023, the Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) is once again organizing the IUC for the 2024 undergraduate students. Registration for the IUC for the Odd Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year was open until 16 August 2024. Undergraduate students from the 2024 cohort who are interested in joining the IUC learning scheme are required to have English language proficiency, proven by a minimum score equivalent to TOEFL 450.
After going through the registration and internal selection process, a total of eight students were selected as IUC 2024 participants at the Faperta UGM. These students come from various study programs, including Plant Protection, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension and Communication, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Resource Management.
Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, stated, “Through the IUC program, we hope that the internationalization of the Faculty of Agriculture can be realized soon, and our undergraduate students will be increasingly prepared to face global challenges.”
The IUC 2024 lectures began in late August 2024. The IUC 2024 students will follow a learning scheme that includes international exposure, one of which is in the form of lectures at foreign universities starting in Semester 6.
The organization of the IUC for two consecutive years is undoubtedly a realization of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM’s commitment to implementing the ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) International Accreditation, which has been achieved by eight undergraduate study programs at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM.
In addition, the IUC implementation is a strategic step by the Faculty of Agriculture in realizing its commitment to supporting the success of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
