Student Executive Board of Faculty of Agriculture UGM Introduces the Children to Agriculture

Student Executive Board, Student Family of Faculty of Agriculture UGM (BEM KM Faperta UGM) has been conducting Faperta Mengajar 2023 activities from 23 September until 29 October 2023 with the theme “Farmer Service Towards a Brilliant Future for Children” to give the elementary school children in Sumberan Hamlet, Kalurahan Candibinangun, Kapanewon Pakem, Sleman Regency, an introduction to agriculture.

Muhammad Iqram as the Chief Executive of Faperta Mengajar 2023 said that one of the agricultural commodities introduced was vegetables, such as spinach. “We invite the children to plant together the spinach seeds that we have prepared. In our opinion, spinach is easier to care for and often encountered by the children. For about fisheries, we introduce several types of marine fish. We also associate with existing cartoons such as the film “Finding Nemo” to attract more attention to learn about the types of fish,” said Iqram when met in at the campus (29/9). read more

“Pondasi UTS” Program to Serve Free Breakfast During Mid-Term Exam Period

Faculty of Agriculture UGM strives to support students during the mid-term exam period by serving free breakfast through “Pondasi UTS” program. During this mid-term exam period, the Faculty provides 200 portions of free breakfast every morning. The provision of free breakfast aims to support students to focus more on preparing for exams, without rushing to find or prepare breakfast in advance.

This was conveyed by Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., when met at the campus. Dr. Weny added that the “Pondasi UTS” program also aims to foster empathy between students. read more

Technological Innovation to Anticipate Drought in Agricultural Land as Water Resources Conservation

Faculty of Agriculture UGM conducted water resources conservation program in agricultural land located at Nawungan, Imogiri, Bantul to overcome drought in agricultural land from August 2022 until December 2022. Chaired by Dr. Jamhari, S.P., M.P., the program had another goal to make Nawungan as a prototype of productive conservation agriculture. The following are the team members:

  1. Nur Ainun H.J. Pulungan, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.
  2. Chandra Setyawan, S.TP., M.Eng., Ph.D.
  3. Edy Trihatmoko, S.Si., M.Sc.
  4. Pramasti Dyah Nhindyasari, S.P., M.Sc.
  5. Ahmad Priyo Sambodo, S.Si., M.Sc.

This water resources conservation program collaborated with the Lestari Mulyo Farmer Group, an association of Nawungan farmers, to be directly involved in a series of programs. Nawungan was chosen as the location of the water resources conservation program because the agricultural area had lithological drought due to the material and structure of the constituent rocks. Therefore, it was urgent to make a reservoir to collect rainwater using geomembranes. read more
