Faculty of Agriculture UGM officially welcomed new students on Wednesday, 31 July 2024 with a symbolic opening by the Dean of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D. On this occasion, the Dean welcomed 599 new students from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM class of 2024. The event name was PIONIR Organik 2024, a series of students event to welcome new students annually.

“Welcome to all new students at the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. “By welcoming you here, I hope you can all learn to be responsible students and have integrity” said the Dean.

The symbolic opening was carried out by the Dean together with the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Sc., Faculty of Agriculture Cluster Coordinator, Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D, and General Coordinator of PIONIR Organik 2024, Muh. Riendy Tri Putra. The symbolic opening is marked by the presence of three important elements, including the Asa Catur Wheel, the Transformation Rubik’s Rubber, and the Pirtamaya IoT symbol.

Dr. Desi explained that these three elements are representative of the big theme of PIONIR Organik 2024, namely “Amarta Initiative, Nation’s Intellectual Pioneer”. She added that this theme brings hope for new students to become pioneers in Indonesian agriculture and fisheries.

“Through this theme, we hope that new students from Faculty of Agriculture  UGM can become pioneers to advance Indonesian agriculture and fisheries by producing innovative work,” explained Dr. Desi.

The PIONIR Organik 2024 series which is also accompanied by the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) is a concrete manifestation of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM’s commitment to achieving the goals of SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 10: Reducing Inequality, and SDG 17: Partnership to Achieve Goals.
