Reviewing the Urgency of Farmer Regeneration in the Closing Session of SC-STAF 2026 Day 2: Bringing the Next Generation’s Voice into the Public Sphere

The series of the second day of the Summer Course on Sustainable Tropical Agriculture and Fisheries (SC-STAF) 2026, organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, concluded with an in-depth interactive discussion. The closing session featured an international academic and Assistant Professor in agricultural economics from Shimane University, Japan, namely Rosalia Natalia Seleky, Ph.D.

This Faperta UGM alumna reviewed critical socio-economic perspectives in her presentation titled “The Importance of Next Generation Farmers: A Conceptual Framework to Bring the Potential Successor into Focus.” During the discussion, Dr. Seleky dissected the importance of direct involvement and providing an independent vocal space for the next generation of farming businesses to face the surging global food demands in the future. read more

Highlighting Agricultural Issues in the United States, Aidan K. Bobholz Shares “Smart Agriculture” Insights at Faperta UGM’s SC-STAF 2026

The intensive class series in the Summer Course on Sustainable Tropical Agriculture and Fisheries (SC-STAF) 2026, organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), continues to present global perspectives from international experts. On the second day of execution, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, extraordinary enthusiasm was demonstrated by the participants during the morning lecture session, which featured a young speaker from the United States, Aidan K. Bobholz. Through an in-depth material presentation titled “Agriculture in America’s Heartland,” this agronomy scientist successfully opened an interactive and comparative discussion space regarding the dynamics of large-scale agribusiness in the Midwest region of the United States as well as the implementation of precision agriculture for climate risk mitigation. read more

Traces of Creativity of UGM BAEC Students at PEKSIMIPROV DIY 2026

The 2026 Yogyakarta Special Region Provincial Student Arts Week (PEKSIMIPROV DIY), held on June 24, 2026, once again provided an important platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity. The competition, which brought together various universities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, served not only as a competition but also as a space for learning, collaboration, and strengthening the character of the younger generation through art.

In the Poster Design category, Cantik Djatoek Fadillah, a 2025 student in the Agricultural Extension and Communications Study Program at Gadjah Mada University, won third place. This achievement is clear evidence that hard work, perseverance, and a passion for creativity can produce impressive results, even amidst intense competition. read more
