The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Kagama Agriculture through the Smart Eco Bioproduction program, held a Pre-Graduation Briefing for Undergraduate Students, Period IV Academic Year 2025/2026. The event carried the theme “Keys to Success as a Young Entrepreneur” and took place at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium on August 20, 2026.

In her opening remarks, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., congratulated all prospective graduates who will officially graduate in this period. She highlighted that the significant number of students graduating with cum laude honors is both a proud achievement and a challenge in the competitive job market. “On behalf of the faculty, we also sincerely apologize for any shortcomings, whether academic or non-academic, during your study period,” she stated.

The briefing featured two inspiring speakers. Sekar Ayuningtyas, S.P., Founder of Tuai Bunga, shared practical insights on building a business. She emphasized the importance of executing ideas without delay, recognizing personal potential, and identifying a unique selling product supported by strong storytelling. Sekar also reminded students not to hesitate when starting a business, to maintain healthy cash flow, to take risks in building relationships, and to remain resilient in facing challenges.

Meanwhile, Dr. Agus Susanto, S.P., M.P., researcher at the Palm Oil Research Center and coconut farmer, focused on marketing strategies in the digital era. He encouraged young entrepreneurs to leverage platforms such as TikTok and Shopee for sales. “In business, the most difficult part is the sales strategy. Therefore, choose partners who are al amiin, trustworthy and reliable,” he advised.
The atmosphere grew even warmer when participants were invited to enjoy kopyor coconut drinks together. This simple yet meaningful moment symbolized togetherness, strengthening bonds between the academic community, alumni, and prospective graduates who are about to embark on their professional journeys.
This activity not only provided practical insights into entrepreneurship but also reinforced the Faculty of Agriculture UGM’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 4: Quality Education is supported through the provision of practical knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and career preparation for prospective graduates. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth is advanced by strengthening students’ entrepreneurial competencies, business capabilities, and readiness to create employment and economic opportunities. SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure is supported through the development of innovative business mindsets and the use of digital platforms and technologies to strengthen agricultural entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture UGM and Kagama Agriculture, together with the involvement of alumni and the broader academic community, contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening partnerships and knowledge exchange between higher education, alumni networks, and the agricultural sector.
With the spirit of synergy between the academic community and alumni, the briefing is expected to inspire prospective graduates to take bold steps as innovative, competitive young entrepreneurs who contribute meaningfully to sustainable agricultural development.
