On Sunday, 22 September 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) hosted a Family Gathering event to celebrate its 78th anniversary. The event brought together over 700 participants, including faculty members, staff, their families, and students. It served as a platform for strengthening relationships and reminiscing about shared experiences, as highlighted by Dr. Makruf Nurudin, S.P., M.P., Chair of the 78th Anniversary Organizing Committee.
“The most important moment today is the opportunity to reconnect with one another, which we should be grateful for and use to reminisce. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event,” said Dr. Makruf.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., also addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to the organizing committee, partners, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) affiliated with the faculty. He also extended a warm welcome to alumni attending the event and hoped that the gathering would help strengthen bonds among all participants.
“We would like to thank the committee, our partners, and the SMEs supported by the faculty, who have all contributed to the success of today’s Family Gathering. We hope this event creates a positive atmosphere and further strengthens our community,” said the Dean.
The Family Gathering kicked off with a “healthy walk,” which saw the active participation of all attendees and was officially opened by the Dean. After the walk, each participant received a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of over 200 prizes. Horiza Sofrah, a part-time employee in the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, shared her thoughts on the event.
“I’m so happy to be part of this event, even though I have a busy schedule. Today has been extra special because I won a door prize. Thank you to the faculty for providing us with the opportunity to join in this celebration,” said Sofrah.
The Faculty of Agriculture’s Family Gathering aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, Goal 10: Reduced Inequality, Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
