Faculty of Agriculture Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has received two plastic bottle collection bins from Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This initiative is aimed at supporting waste management efforts, maintaining campus cleanliness, and raising awareness about the importance of recycling among students and academic staff.
The ceremonial installation of the bins took place on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, and was attended by representatives from Bank BRI, UGM officials, and several students. In his remarks, the President Director of Bank BRI emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental preservation and its role in raising public awareness about the importance of recycling.
Agus Sudarwinto, S.E., M.M., Head of the Faculty Administration Office at UGM, noted that the management of collected plastic bottles will be the Faculty’s responsibility. He expressed hope that the Faculty’s ability to sort and manage waste would continue to improve, reflecting in better waste sorting reports.
“The main goal of this facility is to ensure that plastic bottles are sorted at one place, facilitating further management and recycling processes,” Agus said.
The newly installed bins are expected to help students and academic staff at UGM dispose of plastic waste correctly and enhance their participation in environmentally friendly programs.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Agriculture at UGM contributes to sustainability efforts aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
