Lentera DESA: Agrocomplex Education Platform was Selected into Innovative Challenge Program

news Friday, 6 December 2024

Lentera DESA, an online education and training platform in the agrocomplex sector, which covers agriculture, fisheries, and livestock, has achieved a significant milestone by being selected for the Innovative Challenge program organized by the Innovative Academy at Universitas Gadjah Mada. This platform not only offers training but also provides a discussion space where users can exchange information and build relationships within the community.

The Innovative Challenge is a flagship program of UGM aimed at incubating and facilitating various innovations designed to address problems or create new solutions in various fields. The program provides a platform for creative ideas to develop into solutions that are ready to be implemented and sustainable. Lentera DESA is one of the innovations that passed the selection process and will receive intensive mentoring for 8 weeks, from October 12th until November 16th, 2024.

On 12 October 2024, Lentera DESA participated in a mentoring session on the topic “Mapping Stakeholders & Customer Archetypes,” which was held at Artotel Yogyakarta. During this session, Lentera DESA aimed to map the problems and opportunities in the agrocomplex education sector and learn how to conduct independent market research to develop its product ideas. The event was also attended by other start-ups and innovators and guided by experienced mentors in their respective fields.

One of the team members of Lentera DESA, Rani Nur Rochim, S.P. (Alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture, 2018), shared her hope for the program

“We feel very fortunate to be part of this mentoring program, with the hope that Lentera DESA can continue to grow and provide benefits to the community, especially farmers,” said Rani

Lentera DESA’s success in entering the Innovative Challenge program marks a significant step toward a brighter future for the agriculture, fisheries, and livestock sectors through digital solutions that support the development of knowledge and skills for those involved. This also aligns with efforts to achieve the SDGs, including SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Faculty of Agriculture UGM Holds Coordination Meeting for Media Team to Optimize SDGs Article Publication

news Friday, 6 December 2024

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), held a Coordination Meeting for its Media Team on Thursday, 3 October 2024. The event aimed to evaluate and assess the progress of article publications from various media teams within each department and study program. Through this discussion forum, it was hoped that each department could share experiences and best practices in article publication, fostering a spirit of collaboration and improving the media teams’ performance.

The Coordination Meeting took place in Room 12.1.5 of the Rachmiwaty Building at the Faculty of Agriculture UGM. Attendees included lecturers, daily labor staff (THL), part-time students, and volunteer students in the Media Team. The meeting was also attended by the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, Dr. R.A. Siti Ari Budhiyanti, S.T.P., M.P., commonly known as Sita.

In her remarks, Sita motivated the media team members by emphasizing the crucial role of media in disseminating information and supporting the faculty’s strategic goals.
“The presence of a media team is essential for any institution. They must always be active and stay updated across various social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and others to support the promotion and performance of the institution,” she stressed.

The meeting, led by Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., also the Head of the Information Systems and Media Unit at the Faculty of Agriculture, was expected to boost the enthusiasm of each department’s media team members and foster collaboration to achieve the established targets.

“This year, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM has set a Performance Achievement Target (TCK) with a mandate to publish at least 900 news articles focused on sustainable development goals (SDGs). This target aligns with the faculty’s commitment to supporting the achievement of SDGs through reporting on various topics such as innovation, research, and sustainable agricultural activities. We hope that through coordination events like today, we can share information on activities within departments that the media team at the faculty level can report on,” Desi explained.

Through this coordination meeting, the Faculty of Agriculture UGM is committed to improving the quality and quantity of its publications, which are crucial indicators in the development of academics and the institution’s reputation. This activity also supports the SDGs, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

news Friday, 6 December 2024

The Faculty of Agriculture at Gadjah Mada University (Faperta UGM) underwent an Internal Quality Audit (AMI) for its Study Program Management Units (UPPS) on 2-3 October 2024. The aim of the AMI visit was to assess and enhance the quality of education and services provided by each program within the Faculty of Agriculture.

During the AMI visit, a team of assessors, consisting of experts in higher education, evaluated several aspects of program management, including curriculum, research, community service, and management. The audit covered nine undergraduate programs, eight master’s programs, and one doctoral program managed by the Faculty of Agriculture.

Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Agriculture, emphasized the importance of the AMI visit for involving all elements of the Faculty to maintain the quality of education provided.

“We hope that the AMI visit can be an effort and evaluation for all of us to maintain the quality of education we run, as well as make a positive contribution to society,” Weny said.

The AMI visit involved faculty members, educational staff, and students in separate discussion sessions. Five departments, or UPPS, at the Faculty of Agriculture participated in the AMI visit: the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, the Department of Agricultural Economics and Social Sciences, the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, the Department of Fisheries, and the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, which includes 16 study programs. Each study program was audited by two assessors from Gadjah Mada University. Afterward, the assessors presented the results of the AMI audit to the department heads and program managers, outlining steps for future improvements. The Department of Soil will undergo its AMI visit on 22 October 2024.

The AMI audit is part of the Faculty of Agriculture’s commitment, supported by all elements of the academic community within each program, to achieve the goals outlined in the SDGs, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
