Food security remains a critical issue in Indonesia, heavily reliant on a deep understanding of plant pathology—a field focused on diagnosing and managing plant diseases, especially in essential crops. The Haryono Semangun Award (HSA) 2024, themed “Plant Pathology as the Foundation for Food Security in the Era 5.0”, aims to introduce plant pathology to a broader audience. The event honors the late Prof. Dr. Ir. Haryono Semangun, an esteemed Professor of Plant Pathology at UGM, whose contributions to the field remain an enduring inspiration.
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
The Faculty of Agriculture UGM has once again implemented the Pondasi Program to support students during the Midterm Exams (UTS), which took place from 30 September to 11 October 2024. Every day, this program provided 200 free breakfast portions, aiming to enhance student welfare and readiness for exams. The program received support from various donors, including the Rahmat Foundation, which played a significant role in making this initiative possible.
During the 78th Anniversary Open Senate Meeting of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, shared insights about the Pondasi Program.
The administrative staff of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), recently participated in a grape harvesting event on the rooftop of Building A1. This event not only celebrated the success of their rooftop vineyard but also supported the Health Promoting University (HPU) initiative aimed at improving staff well-being. Additionally, the activity strengthened the sense of community within the faculty, fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere.
The implementation of HPU at the Faculty of Agriculture is evident through efforts to enhance health and well-being, especially for administrative staff, by promoting healthy eating habits. One of these efforts includes harvesting and consuming grapes grown on the rooftop vineyard of Building A1.
