On Saturday, 21 September 2024, the Faculty of Agriculture at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) hosted the 14th National Agricultural Research Seminar with the theme “Optimization of Land Use and Adaptation to Global Climate Change for Achieving Food Sovereignty.” This seminar was part of the 78th Anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Agriculture at UGM. The seminar featured presentations from various researchers, divided into several parallel sessions, one of which focused on agricultural cultivation.
SDG 13: Climate Action
The community service team from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, led by Dody Kastono, S.P., M.P., provided assistance to Millennial Farmers in Sleman on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Purwomartani, Kalasan, Sleman. The assistance activity included training on watermelon cultivation, pest and disease management, Bacillus production, and soil structure improvement, which can contribute to increased production. The training session was attended by 44 participants, consisting of the management and members of the Millennial Farmers of Sleman.
Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) facilitates seven students in AIMS program, one of them is Koko Nomura, a PhD student from the Department of Regional Agriculture Regional Symbiosis Course, Ibaraki University, Japan. She stated that she was driven by her curiosity to learn about the main course she interested in, that is related to annual crop in Indonesia, especially paddy.
Koko explained, she chose Gadjah Mada University because it has various faculties, so that he thought it will provide a nice environment for her to enhance her communication skills among others. In addition, she also showed her biggest motivation to learn at Faculty of Agriculture UGM because she can learn about non tilling way of crops growing way.
