Supporting Micro-Credentials: UGM Online MOOC Socialization for Faperta UGM Lecturers

news Tuesday, 8 July 2025

On Wednesday, 15 January 2025, the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) held a socialization event on the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from 09.00 to 11.00 AM at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium. The event was moderated by Desi Utami, S.P., M.Env.Sc., Ph.D., a head of Information System and Media Unit, Faperta UGM and featured Dr. Hatma Suryatmojo, S.Hut., M.Si., Director of the Directorate of Academic Innovation and Studies at UGM, as the main speaker.

This session was specifically aimed at faculty members of Faperta UGM and focused on introducing UGM Online as a platform for professional development and teaching skill enhancement. It also addressed UGM’s commitment to inclusivity by opening opportunities for the public to access and participate in learning processes alongside UGM lecturers through the UGM Online platform.

Dr. Hatma Suryatmojo emphasized that this initiative aligns with the university’s goal of embracing micro-credentials, stating that UGM must now fully integrate micro-credentials into its learning systems. “MOOC is essential to be pursued at UGM because micro-credentials support flexible learning, address labor market challenges, expand access to education, increase the university’s competitiveness, and strengthen collaborations with industries and government,” he explained.

He also elaborated on various aspects of MOOC, particularly its benefits in enhancing teaching competencies in the digital era. Lecturers at Faperta UGM were encouraged to view MOOC as an effective medium for delivering course materials and engaging with the broader public.

Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, added that faculty members are welcome to utilize faculty grant programs and collaborate with the Faperta Media Team for assistance in video content production.

This initiative reflects Faperta UGM’s commitment to developing innovative and adaptive education in response to the evolving demands of higher education, especially in the context of increasing reliance on information technology. Moreover, this activity demonstrates the faculty’s support for Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Improving Learning Quality: Faperta UGM Lecturers Conduct Joint BKD Submission as a Performance Evaluation Measure

news Tuesday, 8 July 2025

The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the quality of education through regular lecturer performance evaluations. One of the key steps in this process is the joint submission of the Lecturer Workload Report (BKD), which took place on Monday, 13 January 2025, at the Prof. Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture UGM.

This event was attended by lecturers from various departments within Faperta UGM, both in person and virtually via Zoom. The BKD submission serves not merely as an administrative obligation, but as a strategic tool to assess the lecturers’ achievements in implementing the three pillars of higher education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi): teaching, research, and community service.

Beyond fulfilling academic responsibilities, the BKD process represents a comprehensive effort to evaluate performance, reinforce accountability, and promote transparency in managing educational resources. During the session, lecturers were guided through the BKD submission process on the sister.go.id platform by Dr. R.A. Siti Ari Budhiyanti, S.T.P., M.P., Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources. This session also allowed space for discussion and mutual assistance among lecturers to better understand the proper submission procedures.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., urged all lecturers to complete their BKD submissions accurately and punctually. Through transparent and quality-oriented evaluations, Faperta UGM aims to continuously produce graduates who are competent and well-prepared to face global challenges in the agricultural sector.

“This activity is expected to assist and ease lecturers in completing their BKD. Hopefully, the process runs smoothly and can be finalized before the deadline on 19 January 2025,” stated the Dean.

This joint BKD submission initiative also reflects Faperta UGM’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
