Bincang Desa #50 Webinar: Preparing for Eid al-Adha with Proper Qurbani Animal Handling in Accordance with Sharia and Science

The Bincang Desa Webinar Series is an initiative by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) in collaboration with the Desa Apps team of Faperta UGM as part of their community service efforts. This program focuses on interactive discussions between farmers, the general public, and experts in agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, and forestry. Each Bincang Desa session is designed to address community needs, as seen in the latest session, Bincang Desa #50.

Eid al-Adha is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, during which Muslims perform the ritual sacrifice (Qurbani) of livestock. To address the importance of proper Qurbani animal handling, the special 50th edition of Bincang Desa featured a discussion on the correct slaughtering methods according to Islamic law. The session hosted two distinguished speakers: Dr. Ir. Edi Suryanto, M.Sc., IPU., ASEAN Eng. (Faculty of Animal Science, UGM) and drh. Imam Abror (Founder of Lab Kampung Ternak Jogja). read more

Faculty of Agriculture UGM’s Community Service: Bincang Desa #49 as an Interactive Extension Initiative via Digital Media

The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) has a strong commitment to providing agricultural education and community service. This dedication has been demonstrated through numerous outreach programs across various regions and communities. One of Faperta UGM’s digital initiatives is Bincang Desa, an extension program conducted via YouTube’s Agricia Channel. The latest episode, Bincang Desa #49, focused on the recurring issue of food price inflation during the holy month of Ramadan. read more

Faculty of Agriculture Organizes Japanese Language Class “Nihongo No Nakama” for UGM Students

More than 70 students from various faculties at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) attended the Japanese Class “Nihongo No Nakama” held at Rachmiwaty Building, Faculty of Agriculture UGM, from 27 February to 11 March, 2025.  This activity also presents 16 students from Yamagata University, Japan from various faculties and batches as teachers in the Japanese class. In addition to in-class activities, the Japanese students can also experience learning outside the classroom, namely a visit to Borobudur Temple to know the history of one of the historical places in Indonesia. read more
