UGM Agricultural Socioeconomics Student Explores Japanese Culture through the SUIJI-SLP Program

Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), Class of 2022, had the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Six University Initiative Japan Indonesia – Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP).

This program is part of a consortium between six universities in Japan and Indonesia, including Ehime University, Kagawa University, Kochi University, IPB University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Universitas Hasanuddin. In 2024, 24 students from UGM’s Agro Cluster participated in the SUIJI-SLP program, including Regina Claudia Setiawan (EPA 2022), known as Eca. She took part in the program from September 7 to 24, 2024, at Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan, as well as in Ainan-Cho for the service-learning activities. read more

Student of Ibaraki University Learns Annual Crop in Indonesia through AIMS Program at Faculty of Agriculture UGM

Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM) facilitates seven students in AIMS program, one of them is Koko Nomura, a PhD student from the Department of Regional Agriculture Regional Symbiosis Course, Ibaraki University, Japan. She stated that she was driven by her curiosity to learn about the main course she interested in, that is related to annual crop in Indonesia, especially paddy.

Koko explained, she chose Gadjah Mada University because it has various faculties, so that he thought it will provide a nice environment for her to enhance her communication skills among others. In addition, she also showed her biggest motivation to learn at Faculty of Agriculture UGM because she can learn about non tilling way of crops growing way. read more

ICSASARD 2024: Embracing the Transformation of Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development

On 17 October 2024, the Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, proudly held the second International Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Socioeconomics, Agribusiness, and Rural Development (ICSASARD). The international seminar, themed “Transformation towards Sustainable Agriculture, Food Systems, and Rural Development,” was conducted in a hybrid format at The Alana Yogyakarta Hotel & Convention Center, Sleman.

ICSASARD brought together academics, practitioners, students, and researchers from various countries such as Ecuador, Hungary, the Philippines, Australia, Japan, and Indonesia to discuss and collaborate on topics related to environmental sustainability, food security, and rural development, promoting the transformation of agricultural and food systems. read more
