
The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), organized a Gathering (sarasehan) for Doctoral Students in Agricultural Science as part of the preparations for the upcoming academic year. This activity was held in Classrooms 5 and 6, Agrotropica Learning Center (AGLC), on Friday, January 23, 2026. The gathering served as a platform for networking and coordination between doctoral students, faculty leadership, and heads of study interests.
The event opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, who emphasized the importance of synergy between students, lecturers, and study program managers to support the smooth progress of doctoral studies. On this occasion, he also introduced the heads of study interests who will serve as the primary academic partners for students throughout their education and research process.

The following is the list of study interests and their respective heads introduced:
- Eka Tarwaca Susila Putra, S.P., M.Sc., as Head of Agronomy and Plant Breeding study interests.
- Dr. Ir. Siwi Indarti, M.P., as Head of Phytopathology and Plant Pest Science study interests.
- Agr. Makruf Nurudin, S.P., M.P., as Head of Soil Science study interests.
- Dr. Ir. Irham, M.Sc., as Head of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management study interests.
- Dr. Ir. Alim Isnansetyo, M.Sc., as Head of Fisheries and Marine Science study interests.
- Muhammad Saifur Rohman, S.P., M.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D., as Head of Plant Microbiology study interests.
- Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., (Ex-Officio Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs) as Head of Agribusiness Entrepreneurial Marketing study interest.

The next session was filled with a presentation by Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., in her capacity as Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, regarding the flow of academic activities, including the supervision system, progress seminars, scientific publication requirements, and the examination stages students must complete.
In the discussion session, she conveyed the importance of forming a collective body for doctoral students, either in the form of the Agricultural Science Doctoral Student Association or by strengthening the alumni network through the Postgraduate Agricultural KAGAMA. The existence of such a body is expected to provide space for advocacy, collaboration, and sustainable capacity building for students.
This activity was not only an occasion for academic coordination but also tangibly supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG4: Quality education. Through this gathering, Faperta UGM demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that every doctoral student has access to inclusive, equitable, and quality higher education.
