The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), welcomed an academic delegation from the Faculty of Agriculture, Yamagata University, Japan, for a discussion on the development of a Master’s Double Degree Program. The meeting, held at Faperta UGM, aimed to strengthen international collaboration and support the internationalization of higher education.

The delegation from Yamagata University was represented by Prof. Keitaro Tawaraya and Prof. Yoshihito Shiono. The session focused on exploring the implementation scheme of the double degree program, as well as identifying potential areas for academic collaboration and the expansion of student and faculty mobility between the two institutions.

The proposed double degree program is expected to provide opportunities for Faperta UGM students to undertake part of their studies at Yamagata University, while gaining valuable international academic and research experience. In addition, the collaboration is anticipated to enhance knowledge exchange, foster joint research initiatives, and strengthen institutional capacity in delivering high-quality higher education.

With a shared commitment to collaboration, Faperta UGM and Yamagata University hope that this cooperation can drive improvements in the quality of education, research, and innovation, while strengthening tangible contributions toward sustainable development. This partnership is also in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the goals.
