The Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture at UGM once again held Pagelaran Kasongo 2024. This biannual event, now in its ninth edition, carried the theme “Young Agri-AIvolution.” The head of the organizing committee, Shafira Azkia Afham, S.P. (Alumnus of the PKP Program), shared that Pagelaran Kasongo aims to introduce the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program (Prodi PKP) to the wider community and increase the interest of young people in the agricultural sector.
The community service team from the Faculty of Agriculture UGM, led by Dody Kastono, S.P., M.P., provided assistance to Millennial Farmers in Sleman on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Purwomartani, Kalasan, Sleman. The assistance activity included training on watermelon cultivation, pest and disease management, Bacillus production, and soil structure improvement, which can contribute to increased production. The training session was attended by 44 participants, consisting of the management and members of the Millennial Farmers of Sleman.
Regina Claudia Setiawan, a student from the Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Study Program, Department of Agricultural Socioeconomics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Faperta UGM), Class of 2022, had the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Six University Initiative Japan Indonesia – Service Learning Program (SUIJI-SLP).
This program is part of a consortium between six universities in Japan and Indonesia, including Ehime University, Kagawa University, Kochi University, IPB University, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Universitas Hasanuddin. In 2024, 24 students from UGM’s Agro Cluster participated in the SUIJI-SLP program, including Regina Claudia Setiawan (EPA 2022), known as Eca. She took part in the program from September 7 to 24, 2024, at Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan, as well as in Ainan-Cho for the service-learning activities.
