The Faculty of Agriculture at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has launched the “Pondasi” program to support students during the Midterm Exams taking place from 30 September to 11 October 2024. Each day, the program provides 200 free breakfast portions, aimed at enhancing student well-being and readiness for their exams. This initiative has received backing from various donors, including the Rahmat Foundation, which plays a crucial role in facilitating the program.
During the Senate Meeting for the 78th Anniversary of the Faculty, Dean Ir. Jaka Widada, M.P., Ph.D., addressed the significance of the Pondasi program.
“To support student well-being during the Midterm Exams and Final Exams, the Faculty of Agriculture offers 200 free breakfast portions under the Pondasi program. We extend our gratitude to the donors who have supported this initiative,” he stated.
The Pondasi program aims to improve students’ focus and optimize their study efforts during the midterms. Olivia Regita Br Tarigan, a student from the Faculty of Agriculture, shared her positive experience with the program. “I’m very happy because this program allows me to focus on preparing for my exams. The time I would normally spend cooking breakfast can now be dedicated to studying,” Olivia said.
Dr. Dyah Weny Respatie, S.P., M.Si., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, expressed her hopes for the Pondasi program. She noted that it not only benefits students but also supports the economic activity of vendors in the Faculty’s cafeteria during the exam period. “The Pondasi program not only aids students but also stimulates the economic activity of cafeteria vendors during Exam. Each vendor at the Healthy Cafeteria is required to provide healthy breakfasts that meet students’ nutritional needs, including animal protein, and to use environmentally friendly packaging,” Weny explained.
The Pondasi program is part of the Faculty of Agriculture’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
